Mason thrives on the opportunity to make a difference in her community
by sharing her love for fitness.
In the fall of 1999, she participated in various fitness classes at the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.
She was then given the opportunity to become a fitness instructor. In 2001,
she studied Yoga under the direction of Nancy Thor nton from the Triad Yoga
Institute while attending UNCG. Nancy’s passion for yoga inspired her to help
others find their center of mind and body as well as desire to have a healthier
lifestyle. She furthered her understanding of mind and body classes by attending
YogaFit® trainings as well as Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Mat
Recently she realized the importance of mind and body classes such as yoga
when she joined College Hill Crossfit. She believes flexibility is a key component
to not only having less injuries but also accomplishing PRs in Olympic lifting.
The style of yoga class she offers at College Hill Crossfit is not one that is
traditional as she has found the need to be more on mobility (shoulders, hips,
etc.). Her focus is to help each crossfit athlete improve their range of motion
and joint health for better performance in as well as outside of the box. “Optimal
mobility is the foundation to better movement patterns; and when you move
better; your body rewards you with strong, fitter, and faster.” - Crossfit West 10
