Hobbies and Activities Outside of CrossFit training?

Need to find more hobbies but I love to do anything on the water. I grew up on a lake in Florida and love to jetski.

What is your favorite cheat meal? 

I like dessert! 

Why do you love CrossFit?

Crossfit has changed my life. It challenges me physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. 

What are 3 things you love about College Hill CrossFit?

Obviously, everyone loves the people and the community. I am so blessed to be a part of this community. However, I also love the 800 hill and I'm not sure how I would live my life without the GHD machines :) 

What is your favorite WOD, movement or both?

The three bars of Death - Linda 

Everyone knows I'm a thruster queen and enjoy picking up an atlas stone or 6. 

Do you have an embarrassing moment that happened during a WOD?

Let me set the stage before I tell the story. 

It's 7:59 pm at College Hill CrossFit. Team training starts in 60 seconds, promptly at 8pm. I, unfortunately, needed to pee but both bathrooms were occupied. Naturally, I am in the first heat at 8pm.

So, the bathroom door opens and Megan Gilbert comes out. While I had been patiently waiting for the bathrooms to open, Pam had the clock timer in her hand, itching to see what the CHC athletes could lift tonight. 

At 7:59:30 I hear 10........out of Pam’s mouth. Megan pleaded, oh, I didn't know she was waiting. She needs to pee. With no mercy Pam explained she wasn't going to be stopping the clock. So, full bladder in tow, I turned and headed for the fundamentals room. With only 5 minutes on the clock, I couldn't let my team down, I had to get 3 lifts in. 

Lift 1: clean and jerk 205! Good lift! 

Lift 2: clean and jerk (tying PR) of 215! Good lift! 

Lift 3: I load 225 on the bar..... I pull, I catch and I start to stand......I have it…..I know it. But then, a sudden feeling of water rushes down my leg. With pee furiously rushing down my leg in front of my teammates, I decided to abort the mission, look at Pam and say" I just freakin peed my pants."

I peed my pants trying to clean 225. So be aware next time you are lifting around me on clean and jerk day :-)

Favorite CrossFit moment?

Looking back on it, I think I have to say my favorite crossfit moment is the day Tracy invited me to be her training partner. I had been at CHC for about a month when I received the message from her. Hey, would you be interested in training with me a few mornings???......( the morning part happened only one time lol) I had only met her a few times but I had heard a lot about her. I remember telling my sister that Tracy Shuford asked me to train with her!!!!!! The opportunity has impacted my life in so many great ways. I am truly grateful for her.

Most memorable CrossFit moment?

Travis Matherly - this goes out to you brother. We had the WOD for the 19 fire fighters that were killed in action. Well, it was a tough WOD and being a fire fighter, I knew it was important for him to finish under the time cap. As the clock ticked down he went out for his last 400m run. I stood at the door cheering him on. With a mere 10 seconds left he came around the corner at the 50 meter mark - I was yelling at the top of my lungs and he was giving it all he had. He finished with one second left and it brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps to my skin. Love you Travis - thanks for being you!

Let’s just say….we put the FUN in dysFUNction! I am one of 9. 

What is your Pre-WOD Routine?

GHD machine, stretch.....maybe some dancing....more GHD machine. 

Hollow rocks and forward to backward lunges then maybe some more dancing. 

What is something about coaching that you love?

The opportunity to impact lives on a daily basis on a physical and/or an emotional level is a blessing for any coach.

What advice do you have for someone who is new?

Just keep doesn't get just get stronger :) Remember, the hard way makes it easy and the easy way makes it hard.
